Writing on water’s skin

The fleeting and transient floating inks' signatures are reminiscent of the Asian way of writing - a calligraphic art based on the logic of rebus and logograms (word signs).

As expressed in the works of the Japanese painter and poet Ema Saiko (1787–1861), the calligraphic medium itself (brush, ink and paper) provided both the canvas and the poetic imagery for her intimate reflections on seasonal changes and the evanescence of life.
