SUNSHINE RECORDER

Sunshine recorder is a device that measures sunshine by allowing sunlight to burn a surface through a lens. In my self-built camera, I used fax paper instead of film. Fax paper does not ignite easily and as thermal paper it has the ability to register the intensity of sunshine. On bright, cloudless days when the sun shines directly through the centre of the lens, sunlight burns a hole in the paper. Border of the lens and cloudy days come out as dark marks. In six-month exposures, I used an offset sheet with a light-sensitive film pressed on it.
